Yttria stabilised Zirconia (YSZ) ceramic has the highest strength and toughness at room temperature of all the advanced ceramic materials – we have supplied zirconia plates to a thickness of 65µ and ground comparatively long rods as small as Ø0.4mm. Due to its fine grain structure it readily grinds to give an exceptionally smooth surface finish and very sharp edges as well as having an extremely low coefficient of friction, especially when polished. It is often used as a coating on large alumina components that are too large to be economically manufactured in solid Zirconia. We also supply parts in Magnesia Stabilised Zirconia (MSZ) for particular applications when required.
