This is virtually the only metal machined by our company as it is almost unique amongst metals in that it cannot be turned or drilled using normal metalworking techniques. It is usually machined using diamond wheels such as we use for all our other ultra-hard materials and, as a result, it falls comfortably within our scope.

Most of the Tungsten Carbide that we machine is fine grain Cemented Carbide with a 6% Cobalt content. We produce solid carbide Measuring Gauges using this grade of material in various lengths from sub-millimetre diameters up to in excess of Ø15mm with a diameter tolerance as small as +/- 0.5µ. We also manufacture bespoke cutting knives and bearings to customer’s drawings and specifications.
